Days of Summer - canning time!

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
Genesis 8:22

We have a garden every year, my husband puts a lot of work into it.
The good Lord blessed us with a lot of rain early in the Spring and the heat did not turn on until a few weeks ago, so our beans have done great! I  help with picking , shelling and then canning the fruit of his labor.  We have been busy the last couple weeks canning green beans and pinto beans. I also made apple jelly and orange marmalade. It's nice to open a jar of home canned veggies in the middle of Winter and enjoy them!

  1. You have been busy.. What a blessing..
We have been busy too. [same here.. hubby keeps the garden
going and keeps the grass out, and I help pick and put everything up]. This past week, the peaches have came in big time. I made preserves, jelly, put some in the freezer for cobblers, and put some in the dehydrator.
The green beans, squash and cucumbers have been coming in and I have put lots up and we have been having some good ole country cooking.yum!!! Saturday we picked the first bowl of okra, so .... will be putting that in the freezer soon. When it starts ..it comes.lol
Hope you have a blessed week.

  2. Busy is good when it means the garden is doing well. We have some squash, zuchinni and cucumbers too. I want to make zuchinni bread for the freezer soon. Nothing better then fresh green beans with new potatoes, fried squash and sliced tomatoes! Our okra isn't near ready yet - can hardly wait for it! Hope your week is blessed also! It's raining here so the garden is going to be happy!
