Spiced Tea

It is finally FALL!  I love Fall weather and I love making this simple spiced tea recipe that my Mom always made during Winter months.  Delicious and simple, a great combination.

1 1/3 cup Tang
1/3 cup instant Tea
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves

Combine ingredients and store in a tightly sealed jar.  Add two tablespoons to a cup of hot water and enjoy!!

Fall weather

It's been cooler lately and looks like Fall weather might actually be around the corner now!  We got up early
and made a raised flower bed off the front porch, my husband and I have been wanting to do this but it was so hot earlier that we didn't do it.  We also planted some daffodils  and cleaned out my tub of irises and also painted the large wooden baskets in the front yard. We are ready for Spring before Fall or Winter has even arrived!

Blessed rain!

I am sitting in front of the window listening and watching the lightning and the glorious sound of rain.  We have been in such a terrible drought season that it is a wonderful sight and sound to hear raindrops!  My husband is at a Men's Prayer breakfast at church this morning and I couldn't sleep so I'm up bright and early listening to the beautiful rain.   We have been praying for rain and here it is.  God is so good to us and he always knows best, even if we grow impatient, he delivers what we need right on time - everytime.

Canning

I have been busy canning tomatoes and rotel style tomatoes this week.  I did peppers last week.  It's been so hot that I am afraid we won't get much more from our garden unless some rain shows up soon.   We are just thankful that we have well water to water our garden with and don't have to pay for that on our city water bill.  It does seem that garden's seem to prefer when God waters them more than when we do!

I have several things to be thankful for in my life.   Today is Father's Day and I want to thank God for the wonderful Dad he gave me.  My dad is retired from the navy, he was gone quite a bit when I was younger but when he was home, he was there for my brother and I, we did lots of family things together and I will never forget that.   That said about Dad, I also have to say that later in life when my parents divorced, God gave me a good stepdad too!

More blessings this week - my granddaughter Caitlyn went back to Boston for follow up test this week.  The power of prayer is an awesome thing!   The reflux is gone from her kidney, she only has to be cathed 3 times a week instead of 3 times a day and she should be off of her daily antibiotic by the end of the week!

Garden gleanings

Our little garden is starting to produce.  We have cucumbers, squash and zucchini!  Probably need to do some pickles but I am being lazy today!  We have already had fried squash with purple hull peas from the freezer and fried potatoes - yummy!  Can't wait for the tomatoes to be ready.

dollhouse kitchen

This is the barbie doll kitchen in the doll house I am making for the grandbabies to play with at Nana's house.  I am having so much fun with this project.  The pans are made from caps with button and beads for the lids. My husband says the rooms are too pretty to let them play with!!
