Pears keep on coming!

We still have pears on our tree!  So I found a recipe for pear butter that uses the crockpot, it is delicious and the whole house smelled wondeful  all day.   God has really blessed us this year with the garden and pears!

    1. Thank you for your kind words! I enjoy the Prudent Homemaker blog too! This is my Pear Butter Recipe. I pieced it together from a couple different recipes I had found online.
8 lbs pears 1 cup water 1 cup sugar 3 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp allspice
      1/2 tsp ground cloves

Peel and core pears and rough chop. Add the chopped pears, water, sugar, and spices to large pot, bring to a boil and then turn down to simmer until pears are soft, about 20 mins, stir frequently. When the pears are softened I take my potato masher and mash them a little bit then add them to the crockpot. Cook for six hours on low, the whole house will smell wonderful while they cook! After the 6 hours I smash up any remaining lumps and it's ready to put in jars. I used pints because I have run out of jelly jars so I got three pints and I water bathed them for 20 minutes. It would be 10 minutes for jelly jars. I hope you get to make some pear butter soon!
